From the air
People book this flight expecting a better view of something they have already seen from the ground. It is not that. From the air the falls stop being a wall of water and become a piece of geology — a crack across a river, with the water pouring into it sideways.

Why the ground cannot show you this
The falls drop into a crack across the river. There is nowhere to stand back to.
Most famous waterfalls drop off the end of something — a cliff, a shelf, a hillside — and you can stand back and look at them. Victoria Falls does not. The Zambezi runs over a straight lip and drops into a fracture that runs across the river, at right angles to the flow.
Which means there is nowhere to stand back to. The only ground close enough to see the falls is the opposite wall of that same fracture, a hundred metres away and directly facing it. You walk along that wall through a rainforest, looking sideways at sections of curtain between the trees, and you get wet.
The whole 1,700 metres in one view simply does not exist from any point you can walk to. It exists from about three hundred metres up, and that is the entire product.
The five things people photograph
Two circuits, so you get each of these twice from opposite sides.
Wide, flat and silent, dotted with islands. Nothing about it suggests what is a few hundred metres downstream. This is the shot almost nobody takes and everybody likes afterwards.

Why two circuits rather than one
Two circuits, opposite directions, so both sides of the cabin see it.
A helicopter has a window row and an inside row, and the curtain is on one side of the aircraft at a time.
